New School Part-Time Faculty

Visual Identity

About the Brand

The New School Part-Time Faculty (NSPTF) is a unit of 2,000 part-time faculty unionized with ACT-UAW Local 7902. Its mission is to empower members to act on issues that matter the most: pay, job security, healthcare and other benefits.

The NSPTF has a wide audience, with a diverse demographic. It includes part time faculty at the New School (with ages ranging from 24-80+), students at The New School (ages ranging 18-30), alumni & students’ parents, management at The New School, press (labor specific and wider press), organizing community (other unions & activists), practitioners/scholars (artists, philosophers, economists, etc.), and the wider public.

The Challenge

In 2022, NSPTF sought to create a brand identity that was distinct yet harmonious with the other faculties within the ACT-UAW Local 7902 in preparation for contract negotiations with the New School. The scope of this project included a dedicated logo, printed collateral for rallies and supporters, as to help well as a digital toolkit to help members create content as the campaign progressed.

After 7 months of negotiations with the university, and 25 days on strike, the NSPTF reached an agreement with the university in December 2022. It was the longest adjunct strike in U.S. history.
