National Aviary
Visual Identity
About the Brand
Located in Allegheny Commons Park on Pittsburgh’s historic Northside, the National Aviary is home to more than 500 birds representing more than 150 species from around the world, many of them threatened or endangered in the wild.
The National Aviary’s large walk-through habitats create an experience unlike any other—an intimate, up-close interaction between visitors and free-flying birds, including opportunities to hand-feed and meet many species rarely found in zoos anywhere else in the world.
The Challenge
During the pandemic, the National Aviary needed to shift to digital programming by adapting their habitat shows for a remote audience. This meant their website needed to be refreshed to offer clearer navigation and help boost online visitors, all while illustrating the spirit of the brick-and-mortar location. And because a strong digital presence requires a responsive logo system, I updated their logo to be better suited for a variety of digital applications. I enjoyed this project so much that I also created some printed collateral to be used when they reopened their doors.
The website design was built in Figma. If you would like to view the prototype, or this project in its entirety, please feel free to contact me.
